Lola Jenkins thread painting class

In January I took Lola Jenkins' thread painting class with the Austin Area Quilt Guild. The class was great, Lola was an informative and fun teacher.  I chose to use Lola's pattern of what I think looks like a flapper girl. Used black Sulky thread, colored pencils, and crystals for her necklace. Added antique buttons at the bottom of the braid. I will have the opportunity to take a class with Lola when she comes to the Colorado Valley Quilt Guild. I hope to use an original photo then.

March CQJP naked block

Got CQJP naked March block ready also. Don't know how much time I will have for stitching while visiting our son in Fort Worth, but I will be ready!

CQJP naked February block

Here is my naked CQJP February block. Ready to go to Fort Worth with me!

CQJP January block

Here is my January CQPJ. I know, I know, I am behind, but with good reason....we have moved into our new home. Definitely have had other things to occupy my time! However, I hope to get caught up this month. Going to take February block with me this weekend as we are going to visit our son in Fort Worth.

I am also working on Rebecca Bees' All About Sewing RR II. Will post photo when I am finished with her block.

All About Sewing II Round Robin

Here is my naked block for the All About Sewing II Round Robin. I'm not really happy with it, but since it is the second try, I'm just going with it. I found that my stash which I have received from so many generous people after the Labor Day Wildfires here in central Texas has some wonderful fabrics but most all are solids without any real texture. This makes for a very dull block. I will definitely have to focus on getting some variety into my stash.

January naked block

Here is my January naked block. As you can see I will be using jewel tones with fancy fabrics and cottons. Unfortunately, I haven't had the time to do all 12 blocks, but do hope to get some done ahead. You would think living in a small RV I would have time, but I guess the building of the new house is really taking up a lot of spare time. Hope to be in the house in a few weeks. Can't wait to get my own space again! I spent time today sorting my stash that so many generous people have given me. In my former studio everything was pretty well organized in drawers of beads, laces, motifs, ribbons, etc. In the new studio I am going to organize according to colors of the materials. Will see how this works. Well, need to start stitching.

Take a Stitch Tuesday

I did reactivate my blog to do the 12 month CQ blocks, but am going to also do the Take a Stitch Tuesday that Sharon B. has on her site pintangle.com. It is going to be a little hard the first month or two as we should be moving into our new home that is the result of having lost everything in the Texas wildfires that hit our county, Bastrop, September 4. We have had to move several times since due to various problems and I must say this has definitely been a growing experience for us. Even though hard, it has been full of blessings. It has caused my husband and I to really get back to what is important in our lives. We do know that we are on the downhill run of our lives and we want to make the most of the days we have left. I have reevaluated what I really want to spend my spare time on and it is definitely CQ and more handwork. I have done many single blocks but not a total top. This will make me focus on doing that. The TAST will help me expand my stitches which I plan on adding to whatever block I am working on. I am so looking forward to this. I have the fabrics I plan on using and will post photos when I get back to our RV where they are stored. We are at our daughter's home as we lost heating in the RV due to a mouse building a nest in the heater fan. One of the many living problems we have faced! Anyway, this too will pass and soon we will be settled. Can't wait!!!
